Clamp Lamp & Basking Spot Bulb
Your leopard gecko will need a basking spot area to keep warm, so our kit comes complete with a ProRep Ceramic Lamp Holder with Bracket and 40w basking spot bulb.
Small ExoTerra Water Dish
A very natural and realistic rock finish on the outside and a smooth non-pitted surface on the inside, this dish is coated to prevent the development of harmful bacteria and make it easy to clean.
Medium ExoTerra Snake Cave (Wet Hide)
Your leopard gecko needs a wet hide, filled with moss. This Snake Cave is the perfect space to cool down, and includes some natural moss which can be dampened.
10kg Bag of Leo Life Substrate
You’ll get a bag of Leo Life Substrate with your Kit. In the wild, there are few species that actually live on pure sand - and so Leo Life has been designed to mimic the sandy soil more typical of desert habitats. Leo Life contains a mixture of sand and soil to create a realistic looking and feeling substrate which encourages natural behaviour, such as digging and foraging, and aids the maintenance of a suitable environment. The addition of soil to the mixture reduces the risk of impaction sometimes seen with pure sand, while enhancing the moisture retention ability of the substrate.

Tortoises need great ventilation to avoid developing respiratory infections, so we recommend housing your tortoise in an open-top table, rather than a vivarium.
If you have other animals in the home (or you just prefer the look of a vivarium), it is possible to opt for a wooden vivarium - so long as there is adequate ventilation.

Fish tanks - or any kind of glass enclosure - are unsuitable for tortoises.

The tortoise table is available to order in either oak or black, and is only available in one size.

The tortoise table will arrive flat-packed, but it's super-easy to assemble.

Keeping your tortoise outdoors is not recommended, because it's much more difficult to control the conditions they need to be happy and healthy (especially the temperature).

Your tortoise will need both heat and light in order for it to thrive.
Tortoises like the Horsfield and Hermanns are best kept with a temperature gradient that runs from around 30-32°C (86-89°F) in the basking spot to between 22-25°C (71-77°F) in the cooler end of the enclosure.
They also have medium-high UVB requirements, best suited to a UVI between 3-4 to ensure good bone and shell growth and avoid serious health issues such as metabolic bone disease.
To make things easier, our Tortoise Starter Kit comes with a light that combines both the heat and UVB requirements together (a mercury vapour basking lamp).

Tortoises like the Horsfield and Hermanns only need a humidity level of 40-50%, so the table in this Kit doesn't require anything else when it comes to humidity levels.

Horsfield and Hermanns tortoises are herbivorous, which means they need to eat leafy greens, garden weeds, fruit and vegetables.
All fresh food offered to your tortoise should be dusted with supplements according to a schedule to ensure that they are getting all of the required nutrients for healthy shell growth and to avoid serious health issues such as metabolic bone disease.
